This is the most minimalist episode I've ever done. In this episode I discuss many of the Pacific Islander's lore and myths and how they fit into Disney's "Moana", but there weren't any opportunities for SFX. What it lacks in that area I believe it makes up for in information. The telling of tales will have a big part in Part 2.
This is act 1 of Disney's "Moana". Episode 16b Part 2 will be where the storytelling on the folk & myth side begin in earnest. A "Moana" episode has been a long time coming. I hope you enjoy this one! ~Paul
Hi everyone—
As the majority of respondents voted for a more lighthearted, humorous take on JAWS—that’s what I did. I don’t go full goofus on this thing, but I definitely didn’t treat it like high drama either. Which is good. When it comes to the horror genre, humor is a self-defense mechanism I use. And though JAWS is in my top 10 favorite movies, I'm not a fan of horror.
This first episode covers the opening quarter of the movie and book: Chrissie’s early morning swim, the town’s masterclass in denial, and Chief Brody trying to do the right thing, being thwarted at every turn.
Thanks, as always, for your support. You make this show possible—and a lot more fun to make.
I hope you enjoy the episode. ~Paul
This episode took the most work. Hardest of the three by far. There was more to say, more to unpack, and it ended up running a little longer than planned. Hopefully, it was worth the stretch.
Thanks to everyone who made it through the full Prince of Egypt arc with me. And now it’s on to the next story. One with fewer family squabbles, fewer plagues, and a little more amity. ~Paul
Hey everyone! Here's a Filler /Supplemental Episode where I tackle the whole “Who was the Pharaoh of the Exodus?” debate—Seti? Ramses? Someone else entirely? I’ve been dodging it but this is the deep-dive I’ve been saving for supporters. Plus, I give an update on Prince of Egypt Part 3 and talk a little about a possible "Jaws" episode for summer.
Then I share a little my upcoming fantasy-cyberpunk WIP Metal Earth: Exile from the Wild. It’s Tolkien’s worst industrial nightmare... with neon.
Thanks for backing the show—you make all of this possible. Hope you enjoy the Filler. ~Paul
